A smart wordsmith lawyer

 A well-known lawyer who is known for being smart and eloquent was appearing on a TV program and criticizing politicians for their ignorant behavior. But although he may seem to know a lot, he was not seeing the truth of the objects he himself was criticizing. In other words, he was criticizing those who did not know the multiplication table for not solving complicated multiplication problems, or saying that he could not understand why thieves were stealing.
